How it started?

In January 2025, the SBSA-Community Athlete Scholarship (Women Softball) was launched with a $50,000 donation aimed at supporting our deserving athletes to achieve their sporting goals and pursue sporting excellence through their overseas training trips and competitions with our partners in different countries, be it state/prefecture or club teams.

 

This was also part of the Women’s Softball team’s roadmap to build the team towards major games in the next 5 years like Asia Cup 2025, SEA Games 2025, Asian Games 2026 and SEA Games 2029 (to be held in Singapore).

About the Scholarship

The scholarship award up to $10,000 annually to deserving candidates.

• Up to $2,000 per player annually

• Key considerations:

  • Commendable sports performance and potential;

  • Commitments and contributions to the sport;

  • Relevance of the overseas training trip

 

Eligibility:

• Awarded only to Singapore citizens who are in the training squad with the Singapore Women’s Softball Team (Age-Group or High-Performance)

• At least a Tertiary Student (Junior College, Polytechnic, Institute of Technical Education) or an adult (regardless of employment) 

• The funds of the scholarship will be applicable to support the applicant’s overseas training trips spanning across the calendar year from 1 January to 31 December of the year of application.

 

Dates:

• Every 1 April (2025 – 2029): Application opens

• Every 31 Aug (2025-2029) : Application closes at 5pm

• September: Interviews (if required) and assessment by SBSA and Coaches

• October: Notification of successful scholarship recipients and Award Ceremony

2. Submissions will close on 31 August, 5pm.

3. An email will be sent to the applicant to acknowledge the receipt of the completed application form.
