The Softball Asia Cup 2023, held in Incheon, Korea, is a qualifier for the Softball World Cup 2024 - with the Top 4 Asia teams qualifying for the berth.
Team Singapore is currently into the 5th day of the tournament having faced tough losses against softball power houses - Japan, China and Philippines. But the team morale remains high as we fought tenaciously to record 2 wins against India and Thailand.
Since the start of 2023, with 3 months before tournament, we faced our own hurdles: with a few key players sustaining unfortunate injuries and the players having to adapt to different positions/roles; and the relocation of SBSA’s training grounds away from Farrer Park buf with Jurong Field not completed, the team was left to have to make different training arrangements at various facilities.
But nothing will dampen the spirits of the team, not even the wet weather that torrented in Incheon yesterday. Games were postponed and rescheduled, and Singapore will face off against strong teams Korea at 0900hr (SGT) today, followed by Chinese Taipei at 1330 hr (SGT). Please refer to the revised schedule below in Korean Standard Time).
Team Singapore will then be making its final preparations against Hong Kong on 7th April, at 0900hr (SGT). With the rescheduled games removing the placement matches, this crucial game will likely determine the 6th/7th placing for this tournament.
Do support Team Singapore as we keep our spirits high and thrust forward for better results!
